AG Canada v. Bedford

On December 20, 2013, the Supreme Court of Canada issued a momentous decision that could well change the trajectory of prostitution law in this country.  In Bedford, the Court ruled unanimously that three prostitution-related offences (keeping a common bawdy house, living on the avails of a prostitute, and street solicitation) violate section 7 of the Charter and are thus invalid.  (The Court delayed the effect of its ruling for one year and the federal government says that it is considering next steps.)

Below are links to two of my media interactions on that day: an op ed for the Ottawa Citizen, and a radio interview.
