On Wednesday, February 3, I was invited to appear before the Senate Standing Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs which has been tasked with studying the chronic delays in the criminal justice system, and providing a report . Specifically, I was asked to address the division of powers as it relates to the criminal law. Riveting, I know. Seriously, it’s quite interesting, as you will see if you are brave enough to take the plunge. My testimony begins about halfway through (17:14 or so), following the first witness, former Ontario Chief Justice Patrick LeSage.
