CBC Ontario Today – Sexual assault, consent and “no means no”

Here’s a link to an hour-long segment I did on November 3 with Rita Celli of Ontario Today.  Rita had done a show a week before, following up on a controversy about an event hosted by a student group at the University of Ottawa that might be best described as a sexual pub crawl.  She was so taken aback by some of the calls that she decided to revisit the issue in a broader way, talking about sexual assault more generally.  I was happy to have a chance to discuss highlights of my past life as a public interest advocate, explaining the impact of 1992 reforms to the Criminal Code, and the impact of such cases as R. v. Ewanchuk. Although I normally shy away from call-in shows, it was an exceptionally rewarding experience with some truly profound and affecting calls.
